Wow I really hope this doesn't suck.  The Swedish movie adaptation of the Stieg Larsson novels is just so fantastic.  From watching the preview the American version at the very least looks thrilling.  The director David Fincher was responsible for one of my favorite movies, The Game, so who knows it could be awesome.

Totally not relevant at all but thought I'd throw it in.  The Game was an fantastic movie directed by David Fincher and starring Michael Douglas.  A noir thriller set in my favorite town, San Francisco, the movie is kinda scary and messes with you.  In a good way...

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Comes To America

I enjoyed reading Steig Larsons Millennium trilogy last winter.  Much of what I enjoyed about the books centered around how awesome the character Lisbeth Salander is.  In the Swedish movie adaptation of Larson's books Noomi Rapace is nothing short of amazing.   She looks and acts just like I would imagine Lisbeth to be.  So that brings me to what is happening now, an American film version.  All I can think is "oh shit, this is going to suck." I hear Daniel Craig is going to play Mikael Blomkvist, ughh... We'll have to wait and see what the movie is like but we can get a glimpse of what the American version of Lisbeth is going to look like.  W magazine shows us Rooney Mara in her role as Lisbeth Salander, check it out below...

The First Great Movie Of 2011

I saw the Coen brothers latest movie True Grit last night.  WOW... what an excellent film.  Their adaptation is much closer to the book and follows the protagonist Mattie Ross (Hailee Steinfeld) faithfully.   I enjoyed Mattie's plucky spirit,  and the language style used by the actors.  The most striking was the way the film incorporated the natural surroundings to convey the mood of the film. I don't want to spoil it for you, just go see True Grit.  For an in-depth critique read David Carr's review for the NYT.

Black Swan

As soon as I'm done with final exams my wife and I are going to see this movie. She has been dying to see it. A review at NPR by David Edelstein is not so good... But the director also made The Wrestler so how crappy can it be?
